Initial Ring

from 35.00

For this simple design, I melted the metal into a liquid form, which turned it into a small ball. I hammered the ball, somewhat, flat so that I was able to hand-stamp the initial onto it. I hand-stamped it with the initial, being careful that it was centered and evenly grooved. For the ring shank, I cut out a thick piece of metal wire, according to the desired ring size. I hand-filed both ends of the wire so that they fit, flushly, together and soldered the ring closed. Then, I hammered the ring shank against a steel mandrel in order to shape it, texture it, and bring the ring to the desired size. I soldered, both, the component with the initial stamped on it and the ring shank together, while assuring that the top component was aligned with the ring shank. I tumbled the piece, for a substantial amount of time, until the perfect amount of strength and additional shine was reached. In the final step, I applied a darkening solution to blacken the hand-stamped initial. During this process, I blackened the entire piece so that the solution seeps into every nook and cranny. I, then, thoroughly hand-polished the ring, making sure to leave any crevices untouched so that the newly-darkened details stood out against the high-polished finish. I tumbled the piece, for a substantial amount of time, until the perfect amount of strength and additional shine was reached.

Although it is a lengthy and messy process, the beautiful results makes it all worthwhile.

The ring shown here has not been darkened, therefore, left fully polished. If you prefer this look for your ring and do not want it darkened, just let me know in the 'Note to Seller' during checkout.

If you're in the mood for simplicity, wearing only one ring will do the job. You can, however, go from a minimalist look to making a statement by wearing two or even three rings with different initials.
