STONE:
*~ Tagua Nut ~*
{ given the nature of this stone, color, size, and/or shape may (or may not) vary, to some degree, from the pictured earrings }

The nuts used to produce these beads grow in the tropical rainforests of some South American countries, mainly Ecuador, Colombia, and Venezuela (Ecuador being the country to fulfill most of the world's demand). The density of the nut is similar to that of ivory. Thanks to its harvesting, the Tagua Nut is replacing the slaughtering of mammals for their ivory, especially in the fashion industry. No harm is done to nature and thousands of families are employed by the nuts' production market, as they are produced and processed by local artisans in South America.
